提出了一个根据Ｓｔｒｅｈｌ比评价光学系统实际分辨能力的近似方法。用高斯分布函数逼近点光源在光学系统焦面上的像斑光强分布，根据瑞利判据，导出了光学系统分辨能力与Ｓｔｒｅｈｌ比的关系方程。它可根据系统的Ｓｔｒｅｈｌ比来判定像面上的两个像斑能否分辨开来。
